Hi. My name is Dana Fehsenfeld and I’m a maker living with my family in Asheville, North Carolina. I started Chomp Textiles in 2007 during a two-year fellowship at Penland School of Craft.

Philosophy

Chomp Textiles remains true to the idea that making something by hand opens a deeper level of attention. My drawn patterns, screenprinted on textiles and sewn into the goods you find in my shop, reflect something mysterious and positive that happens when I let go, follow my hands, and dive deep. (For more on the connection between the sacred and the handmade, you may want to listen to this.)

Chomp continues to be a one-lady operation (with some strong supporting characters who supply lots of love and distraction) today. I make durable colorful goods from sustainable materials in my home studio, ready to find their place in your home.

Why “Chomp,” you ask? Simple. I started using the name when I was really in love with teeth. Never changed it, and here we are.

Curious about collaborations and commissions? Chomp Textiles enjoys working with designers and individuals to create a tangible piece of their imagination. I’ve collaborated in the past with my dearest friend Kreh Mellick and several others.

Chomp does not currently accept wholesale orders but please reach out here and we will contact you when we start!
